While writing our script tonight, we got into some pretty heavy elements. While we haven’t quite found our voice yet, it’s becoming abundantly clear where we intend to take this. The pacing is nice, if not a little quick, and everything feels right; but it’s just missing that tonal element.
So, I decided to grab a little inspiration and watch a couple of scenes from one of my favorite films, Network. The poignancy of this film iterates so much more now than (I believe) it did then. This scene alone is so foretelling of the future it’s ridiculous.
Do yourself a favor and check this little scene out if you haven’t already. I’m astounded at how well-written this scene truly is. The prose, the grandiosity, the tone, and even the vernacular used is just leagues beyond anything on film or television today, much less anything I could ever hope to write. But it does provide just that extra special bit of inspiration.
Here’s to a good night of writing!
