This is an absolute gem. As a director, it’s really great to see just how hands-on Steven Spielberg really is, specifically with his actors.

Working in this field, reading books, watching friends direct their own pieces, it’s a real eye-opener to see how one of the greatest directors in history works his talent. From their eye placement, to their hand gestures, to getting them to go from a 2, to an 8 out of 10 on the expression scale, it’s really invigorating to see how involved a director can be in his own movies. Also… you’re watching how one of the most iconic films in history came to be… so there’s that.

I can see where this may seem a pretty daunting task for most, but when you break it down on the individual level, it’s really quite inspiring to watch a major motion picture in the works. Especially given the era in which it was produced.
